Velcro mod

Velcro is pretty awesome stuff isn't it? There are some great ways to use it with your Holga. You can use it purely as a safe guard to stop your back falling off, or you can wrap it round your Holga as a groovy, reusable alternative to taping your Holga up.

Holga security

I'm going to show you how to use velcro to stop your Holga's back falling off. For this you'll need a short length of velcro - about 12-15cm. Cut 4 strips of 'hook' velcro, about 1.5cm in length. Stick these to the front left/right, and rear left/right, as shown in step 1 and 2 below. Now cut your 'loop' (fuzzy) velcro in half. Now load your film as normal, and once the metal clips are in place, put your fuzzy velcro strips over the metal clips (step 3) and your back should not fall off anymore! This won't prevent against light leaks, but it's a nice simple way of holding the back on your Holga. Eventually, these velcro strips may need replacing, but velcro is super-cheap!

Replacement for tape

If you want to protect your camera against light leaks as well, then you'll need to wrap velcro all around your camera. Rather than write an inferior tutorial, I'm going to direct you to the tutorial on Toycamera. It's well written with lots of pics. While you are there, take a look around - it's a fantastic site!
